I have spent a lot of time in the Psalms. I love the heartfelt pleas to the Lord. There have been days when I have read them as prayers, because I can’t find the words to pray myself. They express so many emotions so eloquently.
I am not sure if I have a favorite, or, if I do, it changes from time to time, depending on the season of life I am in.
Just now I think my favorite is Psalm 63.

A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah.

You, God, are my God,  earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land where there is no water.

As a mama to a 2 and 1 year old, I am in a very weary place right now. They keep me busy and I have not gotten a lot of sleep lately. Focusing on God in this time has really helped me.

I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory.
Because your love is better than life,

my lips will glorify you.
I will praise you as long as I live,

and in your name I will lift up my hands.
I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night.

 Nursing the kiddos during the night, I often use the time as prayer time.

Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings.

I cling to you; your right hand upholds me.

I can either sing praise or complain. When I am praising, things do not seem as bad. If I turn my focus from myself and focus on Christ, this walk is much easier. There are times when things seem to be just too much, but I have found those are times I have lost focus.

Those who want to kill me will be destroyed;

they will go down to the depths of the earth.
10 They will be given over to the sword and become food for jackals.

11 But the king will rejoice in God;
all who swear by God will glory in him,
while the mouths of liars will be silenced.

 Psalm 63

So, that is my current favorite Psalm. Though it may change tomorrow!

  1. Ren. I can see you at the alter of late night kisses for crying babies and they find peace in you praises the Lord. You are a good momma because you know Him who loves with an everlasting job. I am so happy you’re here at the loft. Your Chris~

  2. Robbi, what a beautiful post. Have you pondered the effect in the heavenlies as you pray over your children? Somewhere deep in their little hearts the actions of their praying mama will sow seeds…even at their young ages. God esteems your middle of the night prayers. Thank you so much for linking up at The Loft. I love getting to know you this way.
