The Candidate

One analogy I love is that of the presidential candidate.
You can join a candidate’s campaign, memorize facts about their personal life, help promote their cause, get the word out for them, paste their bumper sticker on your car and even meet them a time on two on the campaign trail.
They win the election.
None of what you did will get you invited to the White House.
You knew them, but you were not in a relationship with them.
